About

Dilmos was founded in Milan in 1980, in the heart of Brera, as a gallery and exhibition space dedicated to contemporary design. From the very beginning, it established itself as a reference point for an experimental and narrative vision of design, commissioning and selecting works that go beyond function to become poetic and cultural statements.

Today, in its location on Via San Marco 1, the gallery expresses its identity through three complementary dimensions. Dilmos Edition commissions one of a kind or limited-edition pieces from emerging and established designers, created in close collaboration with artisans and specialized manufacturers, enhancing materials and craftsmanship that convey a strong poetic identity. Dilmos Selection brings together projects sharing a similar sensitivity and vision, selected from designers who conceive design as a cultural act and a form of individual expression. The Partners section includes Italian and international brands with which the gallery maintains an ongoing dialogue — some collaborations dating back to the 1980s, others more recent but always in line with the gallery's aesthetic.

Dilmos shares with its designers and partners a unified design sensibility and the pursuit of a distinctive language capable of transcending function. Here, the object is never neutral or silent, but an active element, able to spark reflection and interaction.
In this spirit, Dilmos embraces authorship, experimentation, and individual poetics. Every object selected or commissioned by the gallery is born from a strong vision and a deep reflection on the value of form and material — where craftsmanship serves as a means to restore design to its most authentic dimension: a sensitive, tactile, and concrete everyday experience.

Since 2020, Beatrice Pellegatta has served as Artistic Director, inaugurating a new phase of renewal and international openness, while maintaining continuity with the experimental vocation that has always defined the gallery. Under her direction, Dilmos has strengthened its role as a place of research and exchange, enhancing both historical collaborations and the most contemporary forms of experimentation. For over forty years, Dilmos has been an active part of the cultural life of design through exhibitions, events, and collaborations — from the iconic 1988 exhibition Differenze to its constant presence during Milan Design Week, as well as participation in international fairs. The gallery continues to champion a narrative form of design, in which each object becomes an experience, a story, and an act of vision.
